                  Frequently Asked Questions

What is the actual application process, step by step?
What kind of student are you looking for?
                  • Character & Leadership aligned with the Future Aces Creed
                  • Academic responsibility and growth
                  • Service through school or community involvement
I am currently a student at a university or college. Can I still apply for your scholarship?
                  • No.  Current post-secondary students are not eligible for the scholarship program.
I missed the deadline for the application. Do you consider late applications?
                  • We do not accept late applications.
I am a student applying from outside of Canada, can I apply for the Scholarship program?
                  • Yes, if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident graduating from secondary school.
I will be attending post-secondary education that is not in Canada, am I still eligible for the scholarship?
                  • Yes, our scholarship is tenable at any accredited post secondary institution.
Is the scholarship open to students outside of Ontario?
                  • The Future Aces Scholarship has a focus within Ontario currently but we do encourage students in other Canadian provinces to apply if they come across it.
The application also requires a letter of reference from a charitable organization. Would a letter from a school representative be acceptable if the student’s service and leadership have primarily been within the school community?
                  • Yes , a letter outlining their service is acceptable from the school as long as it is made clear what this student has done and if the teacher or supervisor would be made available to confirm.
Can my parent or good friend provide me with a letter of reference?
                  • No. The reference signer should be a non-family member.
                  • The letter reference should be from a teacher, coach or by a member of a charity, non-profit, religious or other community organization who has direct knowledge of your activities.
Is the essay 250-word limit strict, or may students exceed it slightly?
                  • The general rule for essay submissions is above and below the limit of 250 words by 10%. A reminder that they can submit a video instead of an essay.
Our understanding is that the essay should address the student’s interpretation of the Creed, how they live it through character, leadership, and community involvement, and how the scholarship supports their future goals. Is this correct?
                  • Yes you are correct regarding how they live and/or embody the creed through character, leadership, and community involvement, and how the scholarship supports their future goals.
Where can I find the creed?
When will I be notified about the status of my application?
                  • Applicants will receive a confirmation e-mail within 1 week of receipt of their application. Scholarship winners will be announced within 90 days of the application deadline.
